How to Jig an Address (That Still Work in 2024)
What is Address Jigging?
Address jigging is the process of making little changes to your address to make it appear unique but still retaining the actual address of the location you want the product delivered. This is based on the assumption that addresses are written in various formats with some having the full address while others contain abbreviations and details that can be omitted. There is no single format for writing addresses and delivery companies such as UPS and DHL know this. They try to match the delivery address on a parcel to an actual address that is valid.
Whichever way you write down an address, if it can be reached, you will get your product delivered. Sneaker resellers use the same method to generate multiple address strings from the same address. While it will appear to sneaker sites as multiple addresses, when the sneakers are delivered, they will be delivered to the same location, thereby evading the same address check.
How to Jig Addresses Manually
You can jig your real address and generate multiple strings representing the same location without using any tool. In this section of the article, I will discuss some of the methods you can use to get this done manually here.
-
Use Abbreviations
One of the popular methods for jigging addresses that looks quite innocent is by using abbreviations to jig your address. Let's say you have the word road in your address, you might as well abbreviate it to (rd.). other words you can abbreviate include street (st.), plaza (plz), route (rte), station (sta), underpass (upas), village (vlg), and apartment as (apt.). There are a good number of abbreviations you can use which though, will make two addresses look different, are actually the same. You can take a look at this page for abbreviations accepted by USPS. A good example of this kind of address jigging is when you jig this address, “27 Holland Street, Accra” to “27 Holland St. Accra”.
-
Use Random Apartment Number
Another form of jigging of address that is common is adding a random apartment number to your address. For this, you add a random apartment number to the address. Let's say your address is 27 Holland Street, Accra, you now make it 27 Holland Street, Accra, Apt #6. However, this only works if you do not live in an apartment building or you know and let those living in the apartment know what you are up to. Failure to adhere to this and your package will most likely be claimed by other people without you knowing. Apart from random apartment numbers, you can also add random room and floor numbers to it.
-
Add 3 - 4 Random Letters
This is known as the 3 or 4 random letter jigging. For this, you add either 4 or 3 letters at the beginning of an address. These letters are random and mean nothing. Sneaker sites have no way they will detect and know the letters mean nothing. However, the delivery guy who will deliver your shoe will still bring it to the next accurate address he can reach which is your real address. So, using the same 27 Holland Street, Accra example, you can just make it TEHU 27 Holland Street, Accra.
-
Add Random Space, Comma, and other Punctuations
Another trick you can utilize to make a unique address from your real address without the anti-spam system of sneaker sites detecting is adding random spaces and commas to your address. This can look like an honest error to logistic companies and they will try to match it with a real address and deliver your parcel. However, for sneaker sites, they will not be able to tie down the address to the real address since detecting some of these issues will only be possible during delivery. Take, for instance, I can jig the 27 Holland Street, Accra to “27 Holland-Street, Acc ra”.
-
Using an Extended Zip Code
Aside from the widely known zip code, there is the ZIP+4 which is your zip code plus 4 numbers. This can be the box number or zero plus the box number. Some can also use a random number but there needs to be a dash between the zip code and the other 4 numbers. Take, for instance, if your zip code is 107050 and your box number is 9579, you then write it as 107050-9579 instead of the regular 107050 you would normally use. While it will appear as a distinct address to sneaker sites, it still translates to the actual address when is time for delivery.
-
Adding On or At to the Address
This type of jigging makes use of the on or at word to make an address appear unique. Using this is simple, you use either of these words between the street number and the street itself. This is easy to demonstrate again, using our 27 Holland Street, Accra example. Using this method, the address becomes 27 on Holland Street, Accra. While this is the same as the actual address, it does not appear so and as such, is not detected as a duplicate address that will be used against you.
Other Types of Jigging
The title of this article is address jigging and in the above section, I have shown you how to get it done. One thing you need to know is that it’s not only your address you can or should jig. You also need to jig your name, email address, phone number, and even credit card. Let’s take a look at how to jig each of these below.
Name Jigging
There’s less scrutiny regarding account names. Sneaker sites are aware many users can share the same first name and last name. For this reason, you can get away with using the same names for some of your accounts. However, you’ll want to play safe rather than risk it all. To play safe, you will need to provide a different name for each account. How easy name jigging is will be determined by your payment method. If you use physical credit/debit cards, it becomes less flexible for you to jig your name.
PayPal is a good option, especially if you can purchase a stealth PayPal account with the names you want on it. The most flexible option in this regard is the virtual credit card which does not come with a name on it. If you want to play it really safe, you should use the names of people around you, just in case, you will need to do ID verification before the delivery is handed over to you.
Email Jigging
Just as each of your accounts needs to have a separate name and address, you also need a unique email address for each. Things are a little relaxed and easy here in terms of jigging. This is because only with Gmail, you can create many email addresses with the same phone number. There are also a few reputable providers that act just like Gmail. You can either have multiple phone numbers and use them to generate as many Gmail accounts as you like or have e-mails generated across multiple e-mail providers.
Another less-known method is when you purchase a domain and use it to set up what is known as a catch-up email. With this, you can generate as many email addresses as you want. However, the logic will forward all of the emails to a single email address, thereby making your workflow more organized. I recommend you only purchase a .com domain and make sure you don’t generate too many emails with this approach. This is because when there is a large number of email addresses from a relatively unknown provider which suggests you are just a company and the email is for your employee, it smells like fraud and could lead to more scrutiny.
Phone Number Jigging
Account verification is done via email. However, some sneaker sites will request you to provide your phone number. Even though this is not used for account verification, you will be taking a huge risk if you provide your real phone number here. For some, what they do is get phone numbers from virtual phone number services which is handed especially in the case of SMS verifications. However, this is a costly option as the cost can quickly go up, eating deep into the profit you expect to make from the sales of your multiple sneaker pairs.
Instead of going this route, you can just think of numbers randomly in your head and use them — remember, this is not used for verification and when the need to contact you arises, they can always use your email to do that. But while providing fake numbers, make sure the numbers have the same area code as the credit card you use.
Payment Method Jigging
Currently, one of the most difficult details to jig as far as copping multiple sneakers is concerned, is your payment method jigging. This is because unlike you have the freedom with no legal precaution, if you do that with your payment method, you might get into legal trouble. You can’t create a fake checking account because of sneaker copping as using fake details is punishable by law. Instead, what you will do is focus on the tech solutions that offer payment services and are quite flexible with a lot of things.
The most popular payment method for sneakerheads that cop multiple pairs is virtual cards. This is because the requirement for getting them is relaxed and many even come without ID verification and do not even come with a name on them, allowing you to use any name you want. For the ones that come with your name, they are easy to game with faked documents too.
